Olympic rowers are encouraging Westminster children to pick up a book over the summer holidays.
The Great British men's eight rowing team is backing 'Team Read', a Westminster Council scheme run in libraries for children to read six books over the summer.
They will be awarded a medal when they have finished their sixth book, and a certificate when they return to school in September.
Acer Nethercott, the team's cox, who helped Great Britain to a bronze at the 2007 World Championships, said: "Reading is vital for getting to the top in educational attainment, work and life, and above all it's fun."
Other Team Read activities include writing sports-themed poetry with poet Neal Zetter and reading sessions with a coach from Queen's Park Rangers football club.
A full list of libraries and activities can be found on Westminster Council's website
