Reaching twenty five may not sound like much of an achievement, but when you're are a cat it's a birthday worth celebrating.

Jasper Wedgewood's owner Anne Bruzac takes him everywhere she goes and believes the secret of his long life, an impressive 92 in human years, is because he has a lot of mental stimulation.

"I don't know anybody who has a cat as old as my Jasper," said Anne, a property developer of South Side Road, Chiswick. "In January last year he decided he must come everywhere with me and refused to stay in catteries. So now he splits his time between my country house in Staffordshire and our Chiswick home, just as I do."

The cultured cat, born near the Wedgewood china factory in Barlaston, was named after a distinctive charcoal colour used in the 1800s.

The pampered puss is even chauffeured to and from Staffordshire by Anne's business partner, Peter Ratchford.

Mr Ratchford said: "I think tender loving care is the secret to his long life. I personally chauffeur him to Anne's other home in Stamford Brook whenever she requires it."

Anne takes Jasper to all her business meetings, where he either sits on her lap or waits in his cat carrier which she has dubbed his 'carriage'.
