The old Brentford police station is being sold to the highest bidder after nine offers were made for the building in Half Acre.

The Met Police confirmed the premises, which ceased use as a police station last September, were in the process of being sold.

However, it refused to reveal the identity of the bidder or the price as it said this information was commercially confidential. It said the completion date was not yet known.

The future of the 0.68 acre site is not yet known but it had been marketed by Knight Frank as having the potential for residential use, with bidders invited to submit their offers by the end of July.

The police station was one of many across London to close last year as part of cost-saving measures by the Mayor of London. It was replaced with a police 'contact point' at Cornish House, in Green Dragon Lane, Brentford.

The Met Police, responding to a Freedom of Information request, revealed it had spent approximately £25,000 on the empty building over the last year, including business rates and the cost of security works.
