I am writing in response to the letter from Councillor Mike Cox published in last week's Gazette [Planning set up is national joke].
On December 23, the north planning committee decided to refer a planning application for re-determination.
I would like to emphasise that Councillor [Anita] MacDonald and I both voted against this as we thought that this was a most improper course of action.
The original decision taken on December 9 was perfectly valid and there had been no material changes in the interim.
I have chosen to make a formal complaint to the monitoring officer.
Ms MacDonald has resigned from the committee.
The questions asked by Mr Cox in his letter deserve to be answered. Only the three councillors who voted for re-determination can do this.
I am hoping that the monitoring officer and the Standards Committee can resolve the situation.
Hopefully once they have investigated the matter and published their findings it will be possible to convince people that meetings of this committee are not just a charade.
