THE teenage girls beamed with delight as one by one they opened their envelopes containing the GCSE grades they had worked so hard to achieve. Of the 83 students taking GCSE at Notting Hill and Ealing High School, 99.4 per cent achieved A*-C grades and 100per cent achieved A*-D.

Abi Devine, 16, who lives in Ealing Common, said: "For me, I felt I did quite well.

"My dad and I had a bet whether I could achieve an A* in Maths which I did.

"I got three As, five A*s and a B in Spanish which was quite a surprise.

"I have never been so happy in my life and I'm so glad I didn't fail.

"Over the summer I kept thinking it would be okay and thought what's done is done.

"While studying, I tried to keep to a set routing but there was a lot of cramming.

"I'm going on to do my A-Levels and hope to study English Literature at University."

Olivia Stamp, 16, of Pitshanger, Ealing, said: "I got 10 A*s and I'm really pleased.

"I didn't sleep all night and waited until 6am to check my results online.

"I hoped I would get these results but you're never sure and I was worried about my Science results as it's not my forte.

"When it came to the exams, I worked really hard, setting my alarm at 8am and working till 6pm, obviously with breaks in between.

"I would quite like to go to Cambridge to study History but I'm not sure what career path I'll be taking."

Prabhleen Ghai, 16 of Willesden, said: "I got all A*s apart from English Language and History - so I came out with eight A* and two As.

"I'm so happy, I'm over the moon.

"You expect a lot from yourself but it's great to actually get the results.

"English Literature isn't my strong subject so I'm really pleased about my grade.

"For my A-Levels, I'll be taking Biology, Chemistry, Further Maths and Spanish and hopefully in the future, I'll be able to take dentistry at University."

Ms Lucinda Hunt, Head of Notting Hill and Ealing High School, an Independent school for girls in Cleveland Road, said: "We are delighted by these excellent results, which, coming on top of this year's exceptional A Level results, confirm Notting Hill and Ealing High School's standing amongst the most academically successful schools in the country.

"At GCSE 88per cent of entries were awarded A*/A with 55per cent at A* and over half the girls achieved straight A*/A grades.

"Every single girl has worked so hard to achieve her own personal best and our warmest congratulations go to them all."
