A CONMAN is continuing to prey on often vulnerable victims to feed his drug habit despite being slapped with a second ASBO, police have warned.

Darren Bingham is a notorious beggar targeting households in Hanworth, Brentford and Isleworth, where he invents stories about needing money to help sick relatives.

He was given a five-year antisocial behaviour order in May, banning him from knocking on doors or begging in a public place.

But it has not stopped the 32-year-old, of Markhole Close, Hampton, who received a similar banning order in 2009, getting up to his old tricks again.

Bingham has been arrested at least three times since the latest ASBO was granted at Feltham Magistrates' Court on May 3, according to Hounslow Police, and has been flagged up on criminal intelligence reports no fewer than 18 times during that period.

"He will continue to offend to feed his drugs habit," a police spokesman warned.

"His modus operandi is usually to knock on people's doors and tell them he has just moved into the area and has an emergency where a family member is in hospital or needs to be taken to hospital and then asks for money.

"He does not target people of any age or ethnicity. He will knock on random doors to obtain money by deception."

Bingham was jailed for three weeks in February after admitting fraudulently begging for cash in Hounslow to help the 'pregnant wife' he had invented.

The terms of his latest ASBO state that he must not knock at the door of any person not known to him or attempt to beg in any public place.

Any suspicious activity can be reported to police on the non-emergency number 101.
