When, if ever, are we going to get some much-needed action regarding the endemic problem of dog mess in this area of North Kensington?

I have lived in many areas, but have not previously encountered the terrible problem which we suffer from here.

Frankly, we appear to have a plethora of dogs in this locality, some of whose owners do actually make an effort to alleviate the problem, but unfortunately there are others less responsible who show no interest as to where their dog deposits its trademark. I have personally remonstrated with those whose dogs foul pavements on a regular basis, sometimes I am met with good response, on other occasions, I am confronted with something less desirable.

I have taken this matter up with our local representatives but I cannot say that their efforts, whatever they might be, have yielded much fruit.

I note that Hackney Council is tackling this matter by introducing plain-clothed environmental officers, who can issue fines where necessary.

Are you listening Kensington and Chelsea? Perhaps some efforts have been made by our local authority, but I have yet to see any tangible improvement. I sometimes think this area resembles a public toilet when seeing the dollops of foul-smelling dog mess adorning the streets.

Perhaps it is time to re-consider the dog licence issue, as surely this would encourage more responsible dog ownership, the cash from which could provide much-needed facilities for dogs.
