FIVE people shared a 100th birthday party at a care home in Harrow.

Doris Sparkling, turned 100 years old on August 4, and to celebrate, Birchwood Grange in Preston Hill, Kenton, hosted a party on Wednesday last week.

Four other centenarians also celebrated – Winifred Rump, Maurice Behram, Manji Shah and Gladys Harrigan.

Family members, friends and staff marked the milestone birthdays with tea and cake and a spread of food laid out by the home’s kitchen staff.

The Mayor of Harrow, councillor Nana Asante, was a guest along with the Mayor of Brent, councillor Bobby Thomas.

Mrs Rump’s daughter, Jacqueline Trott, said: “It was a lovely day. The kitchen did a great spread of food, there were lots of family and friends around. It was a great party.”

The home’s activities co-ordinator, Dure Mirza, said: “I think everyone had a great time and we were delighted that both mayors came.”
