NORTHWOOD College kick started its celebrations of Children’s Book Week with a visit from author Echo Freer.

The writer, who penned popular series Magenta Orange, gave a talk to years seven, eight and nine (11 to 14-year-olds) at the school in Maxwell Road, Northwood.

She spoke about her life before becoming an author and where she found her ideas, including real life mishaps that provided inspiration for her work.

She read from two of her books, including her latest title, Toxic Treacle, to be published shortly.

Children’s Book Week is an annual campaign by the Book Trust, to promote the enjoyment to be found in reading and ensure children keep doing so.
