One of Northolt's oldest residents has died just a fortnight after celebrating her 105th birthday.

Violet Jones, who lived in Northolt with her daughter Linda Williams and son-in-law Roy from 2007 until she died in her sleep on Friday November 29.

During her long life she had held various jobs including nursing, working in a bakery, and working as a cleaning after her children were born. She leaves behind three daughters including Patricia Burroughs and Sue Wester, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.

Mrs Jones' daughter, Linda, 66, said her mother was kind and gentle and very independent. She never complained and was always smiling. Towards the end of her life she suffered with Osteoporosis, a condition that affects the bones, causing them to become weak and fragile.

Mrs Jones, who outlived her husband by almost 30 years, turned 105 on November 8.

Her funeral will be held near Penrhyncoch, Wales, where she spent most of her life, on Wednesday December 11.
