TUBE passengers are being advised to find alternative means of transport this Bank Holiday weekend, as trains will be as rare a sight as planes during the volcanic ash chaos.

Both the Metropolitan Line and the Piccadilly Line into Uxbridge will be closed, as part of Transport for London's tube upgrade programme.

The Piccadilly Line will be closed between South Harrow and Uxbridge, and the Metropolitan Line will be closed entirely.

This means no trains at Uxbridge, Hillingdon, Ickenham, Ruislip, Ruislip Manor, and Eastcote.

Adding to the travel chaos, the Bakerloo Line will also be closed between Harrow and Wealdstone and Paddington, and the whole Jubilee Line will also be down.

There will also be no Central Line between Ealing Broadway and North Acton.

The closures will take place between Saturday and Monday, with normal service resuming on Tuesday May 3.
