HAREFIELD'S yob problem is showing no signs of going away.

Police have reported youths using a catapult-type weapon to fire stones at the Co-op in Harefield High Street.

PC John Foley, of Harefield Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "The glass has been struck and it looks like bullet holes.

"It's all kids; they were using some type of slingshot. The shop also had windows smashed by snowballs during the last month."

Last Thursday night a yob threatened a man walking home with a six-foot branch he had pulled off a tree after a row.

There is currently a dispersal order in place, which gives police officers the power to ban troublemakers from the village centre for 24 hours. However, the order is due to lapse at the end of March.

**Arson charges against three boys aged 12 and 13 have been dropped.

The boys, all from Harefield, had been charged in relation to setting fire to 200 tonnes of hay at Knightscote Farm, in Breakspear Road North.

The fire on September 26 last year took firefighters two days to fully extinguish and caused £10,850 worth of damage.

The boys were due at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court last Monday but the charges were withdrawn and police confirmed the investigation was closed.
