BOROUGH: A charity supporting Congolese people living in the UK wants to help jobseekers in Hounslow into work.

Democratic Republic of Congo vision was set up to help educate and train people from ethnic minorities, particularly young people and women from DR Congo.

The charity has urged people across the borough of Hounslow who think they could benefit from services including English lessons and CV writing classes to get in touch.

You can drop into its office at CAN Mezzanine, on the second floor of the Treaty Centre, in Hounslow High Street, call 020 3096 4261 or visit www.drcvision.com

BOROUGH: New infrared cameras have been introduced in Hounslow to stop fly-tippers hoping hiding under the cover of darkness.

Three of the new cameras, providing round-the-clock surveillance, were installed across the borough earlier this month (April 2014) by the council's contractor Hounslow Highways. They are in addition to three cameras put in place during March.

Hounslow Highways service director Rob Gillespie said: "Fly-tipping is illegal and last year alone we cleared more than 3,000 fly-tips.

"It costs about £3 million to clean the borough each year and some of that money and resources used to clear fly-tips could be used for other services. These cameras are a reminder to those who fly-tip that if they are caught they will be fined."

Anyone caught fly-tipping could be fined up to £50,000 and end up in jail.

HOUNSLOW: Hundreds of worshippers are expected to attend a re-enaction of the Passion of Christ at St Michael and St Martin Church this Good Friday (April 18), from 7pm.

More than 400 people attended last year's event at the church in Bath Road, Hounslow, and organisers are anticipating similar numbers this time.
