Work on two new fashion outlets on the site of the old Woolworths store in Hounslow High Street is nearing completion.

The roof is being added to the extension at the Treaty Centre, where Next and H&M are set to open new two-storey branches later this year.

Contractors began work on the new building in March and it is due to be completed this autumn, after which it will be handed to the retailers to fit it out internally.

Both stores are set to open in time for Christmas, and Next has said there will be 36 new jobs available at its new outlet, recruitment for which has yet to begin.

Treaty Centre manager Janet Leatherland said: "There is a real buzz in Hounslow about the new stores opening at Treaty. The contractors have made really good progress - it will be great to see the roof going on and the new units starting to take shape."

Meanwhile, card shop Clintons has just moved into the unit at the mall vacated by Barratts Shoes.

A 27-storey tower is planned for Hounslow town centre, as part of a major new development opposite ASDA, which would also include a multiplex cinema.
