New lights have been unveiled at a park in Hounslow West to improve safety at what was once considered a virtual no-go zone.
Beaversfield Park, in Rosemary Avenue, used to be plagued by violence and antisocial behaviour but has become much safer and better used in recent years.
It was this summer given a Green Flag Award, presented by Keep Britain Tidy to the country's safest and best maintained open spaces, for the fourth year running.
The flag was raised in celebration last Thursday (August 21) as park users gathered for the official unveiling of the new lights, which were funded by Hounslow Council.
Subhash Mahajan , chairman of the park's friends group, which has been instrumental in its transformation, said the lights would make people even more confident about using the park.
"The lights will make the park safer for users, especially people using it in the early hours and schoolchildren on their way home in the winter months," he said.
