Developer VSM Estates has announced it is accelerating its purchase of RAF Uxbridge from the Ministry of Defence to speed up the building of 1,340 new homes on the site.
The company, a joint venture between St Modwen Properties PLC and VINCI PLC, got planning permission to develop the land, which will feature a new primary school, a 1,500 seat theatre and a 40 acre public park, in January 2011.
The speeding up of the purchase was announced on Tuesday and it is hoped development will begin before the end of the year.
