ORIENTAL City is one of north London's hidden treasures that has taken more than two decades to establish.
Its closure for redevelopment has caused a number of businesses to close and jeopardised hundreds of jobs. It is therefore integral that the proposed temporary site is secured by the developers.
The current complex is not just a shopping centre, it is a meeting place for people of all cultures, a home from home for Chinese nationals and a symbol of unity.
To completely lose it would be a travesty and would destroy a important element of the area's ethnic diversity.A temporary location for the stalls, restaurants and shops would at least allow the core of Oriental City to live on while the three-year regeneration takes place and then hopefully it can return to its natural home and thrive again.
