Scores of new flats in Brentford have again been left without heating and hot water due to faulty boilers.

People living on the Great West Quarter (GWQ) estate, in Ealing Road, have been plagued by heating problems since 2009, shortly after the first residents moved in.

Those living in flats managed by the housing association A2Dominion have repeatedly complained about the issue, but residents of other blocks are also understood to have been affected.

Flats in Gilbert House and Sperry House were left without heating or hot water between last Friday and this Monday (January 5).

A2Dominion blamed the outage on faults with three boilers which it said were the responsibility of Barratt Residential Asset Management (BRAM) - a subsidiary of the developer Barratt London, which built the estate.

Earlier this afternoon, people living in Trico House, one of the blocks managed by A2D, said their heating had also broken down, though it now appears to be working again.

Emanuele Sozzi, who has lived in Trico House since 2009, said: "We've been waiting six years for the problem to be resolved. We're not talking about landing a space shuttle on Mars. We're talking about boilers providing central heating.

"We're now looking at whether it's possible to get individual boilers installed at our flats rather than relying on the central plant as we're not confident this problem will ever be fixed."

John Turner, A2D's assistant director of property services, yesterday said: "Heating and hot water for Gilbert House and Sperry House is provided by BRAM.

"We were in close contact with BRAM while they worked to repair faults to three boilers which unfortunately prevented hot water being served to residents living in these blocks.

"BRAM began repair works on Friday, January 2, and all three boilers were fixed and brought back into use by Monday, January 5.

"During this time, we communicated with residents by telephone and in person to provide updates, assistance and also temporary heating where required."

A spokesman for A2D today said heating and hot water temperatures at Trico House, Jantzen House and Lincoln House had been reduced for 'a very short period' yesterday (Tuesday, January 7) afternoon.

"All services were operating as normal after this time, and no other blocks at Great West Quarter were affected by these works," he added.

A spokeswoman for BRAM today said: "The boilers that service Sperry House and Gilbert House at Great West Quarter were not functioning at full capacity on Friday, resulting in a reduced service.

"We sent a team to repair the boilers as soon as we were made aware of the problem and they were running at full capacity by Monday. We are confident that the issue has now been resolved and we do not anticipate any further problems. We apologise for the inconvenience caused to residents."

People living in Trico House have also complained about lifts in the building repeatedly breaking down.

A spokesman for A2D said both lifts serving the block were now operating as normal and apologised for any inconvenience caused by past faults with the lifts and heating at the site.

Last month, MPs met to discuss concerns raised by residents living in properties managed by A2D, including those at GWQ.
