Electors could be voting outside a fast-food restaurant at elections next year.

Harrow Council is to "explore the use" of the car park of McDonald's in Shaftesbury Circle, West Harrow as a replacement polling station for polling district WMC, part of the Harrow on the Hill ward, for the 2009 elections.

That is because the current designated polling station, Whitmore High School, in Porlock Avenue, West Harrow, is being rebuilt and will not be ready this coming May and June.

Elsewhere in the ward the authority is considering options to swap Old Gaytonians Clubhouse in South Vale,

Sudbury Hill, Sudbury, for a different polling station for 2010 onwards, with one option being St George's RC Primary School, in Sudbury Hill, Sudbury.

The council must find a polling station for a new polling district, EBD, that is being created from splitting district EBB, in Canons ward, in two for the 2010 elections, and councillors are to examine whether the Islamic Centre in Wood Lane, Stanmore, fits the bill.

In Wealdstone, Salvatorian College in High Street, will be used for voting for the 2010 elections instead of Whitefriars First and Middle School, in Whitefriars Avenue, Harrow.

The council's licensing and general purposes committee, which is reviewing the use of polling stations in the borough, is being advised to agree that all other polling stations remain as they are.

European Parliament elections are scheduled for June 2009, local elections for 2010, as well as a possible general election.
