A new cycle path, more bike stands and even a public tyre pump are among plans to make Hounslow town centre more bike friendly.

The proposals are part of the second phase of the £2.75 million refurbishment, which began last year with the repaving of the pedestrian section of the High Street and the creation of the outdoor performance space Bell Square.

The latest plans, which are up for consultation until October 15, cover the stretch from Douglas Road to School Road.

As well a contra-flow cycle path running alongside the road, wider pavements and new benches and trees are among the proposed changes.

Kerbs would be also be lowered, loading bays integrated into the footway and pedestrians given priority at the Douglas Road crossing should the changes be implemented.
