Neighbours got together for a huge picnic yesterday (Sunday, June 1) as they celebrated the Big Lunch in Cranford.

Families gathered to share food and drink and soak up the sunshine on the green in Firs Drive.

It was the fourth year running residents have held a street party to mark the Big Lunch, a national initiative to bring communities together around the dinner table or picnic mat.

Newly elected Labour councillor Gurpal Virdi, who organised the event, said: "Every year the street party brings the neighbours together to enjoy each others' company and to meet neighbours whom they have not spoken to before. It was great day."

The Big Lunch was also celebrated elsewhere in the borough, including at the official opening of Age UK Hounslow's new premises at Montague Hall, just off Hounslow High Street.
