AROUND 50 neighbours were evacuated while 50 firefighters tackled a raging blaze in a disused factory on Wednesday night.

It took crews more than three hours to douse the flames which destroyed half of the two storey empty factory and office block in Sarsfield Road, Perivale.

Ten fire engines from Northolt, Ruislip, Willesden, Southall, Ealing, Hayes, Park Royal and Acton were called in just before midnight on Wednesday evening (28).

Residents living in homes surrounding the business estate were evacuated to a safe area. The fire was under control by 3.30am and no injuries were reported.

Station manager Matthew Burrows said: "Crews worked extremely hard to get this fire under control and to stop it spreading. We fought the fire on three sides and in addition to the ten fire engines we used two aerial appliances to help us tackle the blaze."
