An Ealing resident has scooped a national award for being School Nurse of the Year.

Yvette Bynoe won at the annual Community Practitioner and Health Visitor (CPHVA) Awards ceremony, held at the Oxo tower in London.

Ms Bynoe, who works for Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust (CLCH), was described as an "enthusiastic team leader, available at all times even under pressure".

The awards celebrate the passion and commitment of community healthcare workers and nurses in the UK.

Ms Bynoe said: “I’m still in shock about it really. I feel very honoured and humbled to have won this prestigious national award on behalf of the team and I won it for 'being me'.

“School nursing is varied and challenging and no two days are the same. I’m really enjoying being back in the role.”

The winner started working as a school nurse in 2005 and went on to work in Hammersmith & Fulham as a team leader and community nurse manager.

In 2011, she went on maternity leave to have her son, then returned as a senior school nurse with CLCH where she continued her career.
