If you have been puzzled by nonsensical signs appearing outside a Kenton school we can finally reveal the answer.
The notice "no stopping" was hung outside a Kenton school by a mum who is waging a one woman campaign to improve child safety in her area.
Margaret Smith, of Mount Stewart Avenue, has been posting bizarre signs outside Mount Stewart Junior School, in Mount Stewart Avenue, and Mount Stewart Infant School, in Carlisle Gardens, in an attempt to deter parents from illegally parking or stopping outside the building.
The campaigner is targeting drivers who are performing dangerous manoeuvres and ignoring official road-markings, signs and restrictions.
She said:" We had a few near misses with children crossing as there has been a lack of visibility. One child was actually hit, but there was no lasting harm done.
"We want to make it a safe area for the children so we are trying to solve the problem."
All of Mrs Smith's three children went to the schools so the issue is one close to her heart.
The schools currently have a crossing patrol which was funded by The Mayor's Safer Routes to School Scheme and covers the entrance to the juniors. However the infants entrance is at the top of Carlisle Gardens, which is in a cul-de-sac.
Mrs Smith said: "We are trying to get parents and those not complying on side.
"This problem is not unique, there are schools going through the same thing. However we are in the process of making a change."
The campaign has approached the Navin Shah, Member of the London Assembly for Harrow and Brent, and the Mayor of London's office for future funding and to get their support.
Mrs Smith wants parents to sign a pledge to promote good practice when they drop off their children and hopes her idea will be rolled out to other London boroughs.
She said: "It is a complex issue with staff and residents saying not enough is being done, but we are trying to get everyone singing from the same hymm sheet."
A meeting will be held in July to discuss future options with parents and residents.
