An online campaign to find a mystery ‘Lee’ has come to a close and the kind-hearted man has said he is shocked it has been all over the papers.

The #FindLee mission spread on Facebook and Twitter after Natalie-Jane Davey, 28, found a note on her damaged car which said: ‘Hello, a scaffolding truck has just scraped your car right along the petrol cap. They didn’t come back so I got their reg for you. Lee.’

Lee Harris, 25, of Greenford , was walking down Shaftesbury Avenue in Richmond on March 14 on his way to see family when he saw a vehicle scrape Ms Davey’s cream Mini Cooper before carrying on straight down the road.

Mr Harris, who works both in security in Kingston and as part of a management team for Download Festival, said: “It was the impact and noise that brought it to my attention more than anything - the shock of hearing it.

“I only managed to get that it was a scaffolding truck and the registration number but Natalie has actually managed to get some form of communication with the company and the driver.

“I have offered a witness statement to the insurance company.”

Mr Harris said he found out about the campaign from a friend who told him that a lady from Richmond was looking for a witness called Lee.

The 25-year-old said: “He sent me a picture of the note and I said ‘I wrote that note.’

“I traced Natalie on Twitter by trailng through all the links. It was a bit of a shock finding out about the campaign and the aftermath.

“I Tweeted her and said ‘Natalie, I heard you are looking for someone and that person is probably closer than you think.’

“She wrote back to me: ‘Are you my Lee?’

Mr Harris said he is still in touch with Ms Davey and thinks she will keep him updated on the situation.
