It is very revealing when people resort to personal attacks; it highlights the lack of a decent argument ( Letters, July 17, ‘Protesting in a languid and ineffective manner’).
Whether Cllr Fiona Buxton sees the protest as languid and ineffective or furious and determined really doesn’t matter.
As ward councillor, I am bound to represent the feelings of local residents and friends of the 20 plus former residents of Edenham who died among strangers within a year because of the indecent haste with which Edenham was closed.
We all know what was said, both privately and in public meetings, to make the hastily ‘consulted’ closure less devastating.
Officers did make commitments that the site would be used for older people, and if the cabinet member has now changed her mind and wishes to deny what was said, let it be on her conscience.
