A MUSICAL traveller is fundraising for an artistic adventure around the world later this year.

Abigail Keyes, of Love Lane in Pinner, is taking part in a project run by Up With People which gives young performers the chance to put on a show in dozens of countries across the globe and volunteer at the same time.

The 20-year-old will fly to Denver, Colorado and meet up with a group of up to 150 people to rehearse a musical production, then fly to any number of countries putting on the English-language show and carrying out projects.

The former JFS student said: “I don’t know whether I will go for six months or the whole year yet, it depends how much money I can raise.”

In order to travel for six months Abigail would have to raise £8,000 and almost double that for a year.

As the owner of Pinner’s most famous animal, Henry the cat – featured in last week’s Pinner Observer – Abigail is hoping to make and sell merchandise of the cat to make money for the upcoming trip.

Each member of the large group has a particular talent and Abigail hopes to bring musical talent to the team.

The keen vegan said: “I play the ukulele, the piano and the bass guitar. The ukulele would definitely be my favourite, it’s so much fun but I have been learning the piano since I was 12.”

The group travel to cities all over the world and will travel to three different continents putting on the show a number of times before moving on.

Each person plays a part and they can undertake internships while travelling in areas such as marketing.

If all goes to plan Abigail will leave in July.

She said: “It is all about using music to bring people around the world together.

“Not everyone speaks English, but I speak French and will learn a bit of Spanish before I go, I wish I spoke another language. It will be cool to be around so many different cultures.

“I am most looking forward to the travel aspect of it and we will stay with 85 different families on the way round and the thing I am most excited about is learning how they live their lives.”
