A convicted murderer who absconded from an open prison near Aylesbury at the weekend handed himself in at South Ruislip train station.

Thames Valley Police have confirmed prisoner Lewis Hoare, 27, who absconded from Spring Hill Prison on Sunday, October 26, has been found.

Hoare was jailed for life in 2007, for his part in kicking to death pensioner Brian Kitching in a random attack in Southsea.

He handed himself in to British Transport Police at the station in Long Drive, South Ruislip at around 11pm yesterday (Monday, October 27).

Hoare and another prisoner, Kenneth Simmonds, walked out of the open prison at about 1pm on Sunday. 43-year-old Simmonds is serving time for malicious wounding.

He has yet to be found by police and is described as medium build, with blue eyes, short brown hair and is clean shaven.

He has a small scar under his left eye, a scar above his right eyebrow, a tattoo of a panther on his left forearm and a tattoo of a panther’s head on his right forearm.
