A mother was taken to hospital after a lorry load of heavy metal beams smashed on to her car on Sunday afternoon.

The 7.5 tonne lorry collided with two cars and the load of steal beams sliced through the windscreen narrowly missing the children in the back seat.

Hillingdon police were called to the scene of the accident which happened at the White Hart Roundabout, Greenford at around 3pm.

A spokeswoman from the London Ambulance Service said: "We were called yesterday to reports of a road traffic incident at White Hart Roundabout, Ruislip Road.

"We sent a fast response vehicle and an ambulance crew to the scene.

"No patients were treated."
