Two charasmatic West Thames College students are getting used to life in the public eye in Isleworth after being crowned Mr and Miss West Thames College as part of a performing arts project.

Andrew Carter, 18, from Hayes, and Tamara Smith, 17, from Hammersmith, each walked away with top of the range mobile phones after they saw off fierce competition from 16 other students to take the coveted title.

The event on January 29 was organised by Year 2 HND Performing Arts students as part of their final assessment.

"To win, the students turned up, strutted on the catwalk, introduced themselves to the audience and answered three questions from the judges designed to give a taste of their personality," said a college spokesman.

Judges included Poonam Gill, the student enrichment coordinator at the college, and students Simon Marshall-Staddon and Lewis Matthews, who organised the competition.
