The letter from P I Robert asking "Why aren't they listening to us?" certainly struck a chord with me.

I sent an email to both Tony McNulty and Gareth Thomas at the House of Commons in the summer of 2007, outlining my concerns and registering my protest over the Watford-Brighton line closure, and it seems amazing that almost one year later the debate is still ongoing.

I noted from the Register of "How your MP voted on Expenses", that both Tony McNulty and Gareth Thomas voted for retaining the system for MPs' expenses and allowances, preventing the abolition of the "John Lewis List" and in favour of a generous pay rise.

Perhaps if local residents were campaigning to "save the gravy train" instead of the Watford-Brighton train, both Harrow MPs would be more willing to offer their support and lobby much more vociferously and effectively for the retention of the line.
