HAYES MP John McDonnell was at Harlington Community School to collect messages for world leaders calling for education for all.

The Labour MP visited the school, in Pinkwell Lane, Hayes, to pick up medals made in class as part of the national Send My Friend To School campaign, urging politicians to keep their promise to have all children in school by 2015.

Mr McDonnell said he would give them to Prime Minister David Cameron, who will pass them on to other leaders at the G8 and United Nations (UN) General Assembly later this year.

English teacher Carina Dell said: “Our students were shocked that some children around the world were not able to attend school. They feel passionately about this campaign and were thrilled that the Prime Minister would read their messages of support.”

Mr McDonnell added: “I am proud to represent Hayes in highlighting this campaign.”
