A woman was badly injured this morning after being thrown from her motorbike in a rush hour collision.

The 35-year-old rider suffered several broken bones when her Honda was involved in a crash with a blue Audi in The Vale, on the border of Acton and Shepherd's Bush.

Police sealed off parts of the road for more than three hours following the accident, which happened at the junction with Third Avenue just before 9am.

Two paramedic crews attended along with the HEMS air ambulance team, and the victim was flown to Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Crash investigators towed away the motorbike and the Audi, and the road was eventually reopened at around 12.30pm.
