Morrisons' stores in Yiewsley, Hounslow and Brentford are not among those earmarked for closure, the company confirmed today.

Following poor Christmas trading figures, the supermarket giant had announced plans to close 10 loss-making stores in 2015, but has still not said which these will be.

However, today the company confirmed its stores in High Street, Yiewsley; Cavendish Parade, Hounslow; and High Street, Brentford, were safe.

A spokeswoman refused to say whether or not the stores were profitable.

The company's like-for-like sales, excluding fuel, fell by 3.1 per cent in the six weeks to January 4 – the worst performance of any of the major supermarkets during that period.

The announcement comes after rival supermarket giant Tesco confirmed it will go ahead with plans to build a store, hotel and houses on the former Master Brewer site in Freezeland Way, Hillingdon, despite scrapping plans for 49 new outlets.
