MORE students from a wider area of Ruislip can now attend their local school.

Ruislip High School, in Sidmouth Drive, Ruislip Manor, has increased its year seven intake from 150 students to 180.

Having 30 extra places for new students has allowed the school to broaden its catchment area, and is good news for children in north Ruislip previously unable to attend.

Councillor Douglas Mills (Con, Manor), chairman of the school’s governors, said: “For the first time Ruislip High School really is the school for Ruislip.

“Before, the waiting list covered three quarters of a mile in Ruislip. If this school was not available to you before, we can now widen our catchment area to more because of the extra 30 students.

“If you are a parent living in the area north of Ruislip Waitrose and you think that your child will never get into the school, that is no longer the case.”

An open evening is being held tomorrow (Thursday) for prospective students and parents to attend.
