A two minute silence was held this morning on the steps of Ealing Town Hall to mark Armistice Day.

The event was described as being very moving and poignant as over 250 people fell silent to remember those killed in the First and Second World Wars and all those killed in every conflict since.

On the same day, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for Greater London, Sir David Brewer, planted a red acre tree in Walpole Park in commemoration of the borough’s late Deputy Lieutenant, Robert Leader.

Councillor Ranjit Dheer said: “More people than ever before attended the two minute silence this morning. It was quite a moving experience and very poignant that so many people took the time out of their busy day to remember those that lost their life in order for us to enjoy our freedom.”
