NOW that the evenings are drawing in, we can confidently expect to look in our driving mirrors and realise that we are once again being pursued by yet another One Eyed Monster.

The chances are that the one, badly adjusted headlight, is pointing directly through our back wind-screen, straight into our eyes - or alternatively, straight into the eyes of the motorist coming in the opposite direction.

Just to add effect, the driver of the OEM may also have his fog lights on, pointing just about anywhere.

As someone who over many years has driven throughout London, I have reached the conclusion that Hillingdon is among the worst, if not the worst, borough for breeding this rather unpleasant species.

In one journey last year, from the Uxbridge Road to Ruislip, I counted no less than 17 offenders.

This year others may like to join in, to see if that record can be broken.
