IDEAS for community projects in the borough still need to be put forward to help spend the remaining £331,395 still left in the ward budget initiative pot.

In January this year Hillingdon Council set up the initiative scheme to offer £25,000 to each of the borough's 22 wards to help fund community projects.

However, 10 months on more than £300,000 of the available £550,000 still needs to be allocated.

By October 2 the only ward that had spent all its allocated funds was Pinkwell and many of the other wards still had more than half their money to spend.

The scheme was set up to help councillors make a difference in their wards by addressing specific priorities in the area to benefit residents and local groups.

The 15 proposals submitted by councillors during August/September included a grant to Welbeck Community Resource Centre's internet café to provide an IT upgrade, a grant to Hillingdon Outdoor Activities Centre to buy two new boats and grants to West Drayton Youth, Draytonians FC and Northwood FC for kit and equipment.

The total cost of these proposals was £36,359.

To suggest ways for the money to be spent in your area contact your ward councillors. Their details can be found at www.hillingdon.gov.uk

The funding for the programme will run until March 31 next year.
