THE ROSEDALE Hewens Academy Trust - formed of Rosedale College Academy, in Wood End Green Road, and Hewens College in Hewens Road, both Hayes - maintained a promising GCSE results record.

At Rosedale College, 74 per cent of students achieved at least five A*-C grades, including English and Mathematics. Amongst the star performers were Tanija Thiyagarajah (four A*s, eight As and a B) and Syan Reid (three A*s, six As and 5 Bs).

Hewens College maintained the high standards set in 2012, when it was named by school inspectors Ofsted as one of the most rapidly improving schools in the country. Sixty per cent of pupils gained five A*-C grades, including the two core subjects. This was a slight drop from last year's 64 per cent, however.

The stand-out achievers were Anshu Bajaj, who gained four A*s, six As, two Bs and 3 Cs, and Zuzanna Pabian, who bagged four A*s, four As, two Bs and four Cs.

Both academies have come on leaps and bounds since their merger in 2011, and the Trust's Executive Principal Ian OConnor said: "These results reflect the level of hard work and commitment shown consistently by students and staff alike.

"These are once again magnificent results which everyone can be proud of."
