A popular cafe appears to have fallen victim to uncertainty surrounding the future of Hounslow's leisure services.
Oasis Café, beside the Paul Robeson Theatre in Hounslow High Street, has fed hungry shoppers and theatregoers for years.
But it closed suddenly last month after managers opted not to renew their lease with the council's outgoing leisure arm CIP.
Their annual lease ended on May 30, exactly a month before CIP's own contract with Hounslow Council runs out.
But the council waited until this week to announce CIP's successors, leading to a long period of uncertainty among staff and customers.
A spokesman for CIP this week refused to confirm rumours that Caterleisure had pulled out due to anxieties about who would take over.
For reaction to the closure read this week's Chronicle, out today.
