It is with extreme disgust and distress that I write this letter, about the plans that BAA have submitted to put a dual carriageway through Cherry Lane cemetery in Shepiston Lane,Hayes.

I personally have six family members buried in Cherry Lane Cemetery, the most recent being buried there last year.

This proposal has caused my family and people that I know that have loved ones buried there outrage and unnecessary pain. This is still a very active cemetery where we can all come for comfort.

Most local people know someone who is buried there. Also many war heroes who gave their lives for this country are buried there, it is supposed to be their last resting place.

Who do BAA think they are? Putting money before the deceased - not if we can help it.

BAA is a Spanish owned company now. Would the people of Spain allow this to happen there? The answer is a categorical NO.

What has happened to England? Once a wonderful country looked up to by the rest of the world. We are now the laughing stock of Europe and the world.

There is a meeting at Barnhill Community Centre, Ayles Road, Hayes, on October 1 at 7.30pm.

Come along and have your say and support the Save the Cherry Lane Cemetery campaign.
