London Mayor Boris Johnson used his persuasive powers to help calm down a 'drunk and abusive' passenger on board a flight today.

The Conservative politician, who hopes to be elected MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip next May, was on board a Malaysia Airlines flight from Kuala Lumpur to Heathrow - returning from a trade mission to the far east - when the incident occured on Wednesday, December 3. A spokesman for Mr Johnson said: "The mayor along with a number of other passengers and members of the cabin crew did make several attempts to calm the gentleman concerned but to no avail."
