I FELT compelled to sing the praises of the staff at Duchess of Kent Maternity Unit, Hillingdon Hospital.
We moved away from the area almost two years ago but decided to have our second baby back at Hillingdon instead of Wexham or Wycombe.
With both my pregnancies I carried the group B Streptococcus infection,
something that was detected in the early stages of labour with our first child.
Thanks to the vigilance of the pre-natal care and excellent midwifery staff both babies were delivered healthy and safely.
We arrived at the unit within two hours of our son being delivered, a room was ready and the midwife was excellent. Was it busy? That would be an understatement.
I had an overnight stay in the labour room with my son. I then spent the following night in a pre-natal ward, full again, with women waiting to go down to the labour ward.
My point is that we were so well cared for, everywhere was clean and the staff were extremely encouraging and helpful.
The support and skill of these people is absolutely second to none.
What they endure on a daily basis is beyond belief so thank you to all the midwives and staff at Duchess of Kent.
