STATE-of-the-art gym equipment has been installed at the Masbro Centre after a £9,000 cash grant.

New treadmills, bicycles and weight machines were officially unveiled at the West Kensington community centre, in Masbro Road, on Monday.

Members and senior staff were joined by Hammersmith and Fulham Council’s education leader, Councillor Helen Binmore, on a tour of the new facility.

Trainer and ex-professional boxer Max Wallace, who joined the centre eight years ago, secured the funding from The Clothworkers’ Foundation.

He said: “The old equipment was quite worn down and old but now it is fantastic and it was surprisingly easy to get the money. It is going to make a real difference to people who use this gym.”

Made Suseni, 30, who has been using the gym for 10 years, said: “I try to come here as much as possible but we will come more now. The new equipment is great.”

The gym is open between 9am and 9pm between Monday to Thursday and 9am to 7pm on Fridays.

Annual membership at the gym costs £120 for anyone working in the borough and £180 for anyone working outside.

Unemployed people can get three months membership for £20.
