FOLLOWING the announcement several Labour party candidates are vying to become Brentford and Isleworth MP, current incumbent Mary Macleod has confirmed she will be fighting her corner in the 2015 general election.

Brentford and Isleworth Conservative Association unanimously voted last week to re-adopt Ms Macleod as their candidate for 2015.

The move comes at the same time as five aspiring Labour hopefuls declared they will be running in the contest to oust the Conservative who replaced Labour's Ann Keen as MP in the last election in 2010.

Brentford councillor, Ruth Cadbury, London Assembly member Murad Qureshi and local party activist Sam White all announced they would be attempting to run against her, along with Ealing councillor Chris Summers, former Hounslow councillor Nisar Malik and barrister Puneet Grewal.

Councillor Robert Oulds, chairman of the Conservative Association, said: “All in the local party have been deeply impressed with Mary Macleod. She is an outstanding MP, dedicated to serving her constituents. We are delighted and honoured that Mary will fight and win this seat at the next general election.”

Ms Macleod said she was delighted to be re-adopted for the 2015 general election. She added: "The last three years have been really busy, responding to over 14,000 constituents, holding 132 advice surgeries and meeting many schools, businesses and residents. There is still however much more I want to do.

"It has been an honour to serve you and I will continue to work hard to support everyone in my constituency over the years to come.”
