Those of us who are distressed and much saddened by instances of man's inhumanity to his fellow man will have welcomed your reporting in last week's Chronicle of this year's Holocaust Memorial Day at the Civic Centre.
Those responsible for Nazi atrocities resulting in the deaths of millions of Jews and others chosen for extermination have, by this time, been dealt with through the courts and punished.
In other parts of the world culprits guilty of actions which at times almost amount to the traditional 'Slaughter of the Innocents' have not been brought to book. Regrettably, the present day Israeli government falls into this category.
Next year I look forward to standing in silence for a minute or two to remember the hundreds of Arab children, in some cases cold-bloodedly killed in Gaza and south Lebanon by the Israeli Defence Force continuing its version of Lebensraum in what used to be called Palestine.
Recent actions have even been described by fellow Jews as being Nazi-like in their intensity.
So, next year what about a 'Gaza & South Lebanon Memorial Day'?
