The man found collapsed in a Longford street on Sunday evening had been due to make a pick-up at Heathrow Airport.

When he failed to turn up his wife alerted police. They had independently been called to Bays Farm Court in the village, close to the airport perimeter, at 8.15pm, to reports of a man either collapsed in the street or in his vehicle; details are still unclear.

Paramedics worked on Paul Facer, who was from Hampshire, for several minutes before he was pronounced dead at 8.37pm.

The road was reopened at 10.15pm.

Police have said there are no suspicious circumstances. The West London coroner's office has yet to formally name the dead man, but his next of kin have been informed.

Mr Facer, whose age has not been confirmed but was believed to be in his 60s, worked for a car service in Wellington, Hants, according to police.

Roads in the Heathrow Villages are popular with such chauffeurs waiting to make pickups at the airport, where parking is strictly controlled.
