A man was taken to hospital with hypothermia after being rescued from the icy Thames in Brentford yesterday evening.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman told getwestlondon it was called just before 7pm to the riverside at Watermans Park.

She said paramedics had treated a man reported to be in his 40s for hypothermia and taken him 'as a priority' to West Middlesex Hospital, in Isleworth.

She added that an ambulance crew and a hazardous area response team had been sent to the scene.

A spokesman for Chiswick RNLI said it was called at 7.27pm to reports of a body in the water but the man had already been helped ashore and was with paramedics when the lifeboat arrived.
