A man remains in hospital following a shooting last night in Hounslow town centre.

Police and paramedics were called to Wareham Close, off Grove Road, at about 8.30pm, where they found the 22-year-old with a gunshot wound to the leg.

A police spokeswoman said he was taken to hospital, where he remains this morning, but his injury is not life-threatening.

She added that officers from Hounslow Police had attended the scene and Trident, which investigates gang crime in the capital, had been informed.

No one has been arrested.

The shooting comes just over a fortnight after a man was arrested following reports of shots being fired in Hounslow - outside a 16th birthday party, according to one neighbour.

The scene of the shooting is not far from two separate knife attacks, in which four people were stabbed, at the end of August.
