A passer-by found the body impaled on railings by St Mary Abbots Church just off Kensington High Street

A man was found impaled on railings near a Kensington church yesterday morning (October 29).

The body was found by a passer-by who called police at 6.39am to the scene in Kensington Church Walk near St Mary Abbots Church, just off Kensington High Street.

The church gardens, where the passageway runs through, are surrounded by spiked metal railings and are shut at night until they reopen at 7.30am.

A spokeswoman from the Met Police, said: “Police were called at 6.39am on October 29 after a body was found in Kensington Church Walk, W8.

“The body of the man, who has yet to be identified, was impaled on railings. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Detectives from Kensington and Chelsea CID are investigating.

“There is nothing at this very early stage to indicate that the death is suspicious. Officers are at the scene and their enquires continue.”

London Ambulance Srvice sent three crews of paramedics to the scene but a spokesman said: “Unfortunately a man was dead at the scene.”
